As a holistic certified nutritionist, teacher, and health coach, it’s been my dream to share my experience and knowledge to help women all over the world achieve a healthy, vibrant life though natural and holistic health.

My own discovery of the power of natural/holistic health began when I was pregnant with my son (and only child) 17 years ago.

I suffered from horrific, chronic insomnia that began late in  my pregnancy.  It was so intense it wasn’t unusual for me to get only a few hours of sleep each week! My doctors couldn’t help me. I refused to take sleeping pills while I was pregnant for fear of harming the baby, and afterwards because I was nursing.

If my doctors couldn’t help me, what hope did I have?  I hung on, praying that after the birth, my insomnia would resolve.

It didn’t.

Honestly, the only reason I could even put one foot in front of the other was because I had a brand new baby that depended on me.  I remember being grateful when my son would cry because then I actually had a reason to be awake.

After several months of severe sleep deprivation, I stumbled upon a holistic health newsletter. In desperation I called up the editor and asked her advice. She referred me to a homeopathic practitioner – Dr. David Kay. Dr. Kay was a board-certified M.D., who no longer wanted to practice conventional medicine through a prescription pad and had gone on to study classical homeopathy. Within a week of working with Dr. Kay, I slept through the night, for the first time in more then two and a half months.

The rest, as they say, is history. I began educating myself on how to prevent disease through holistic health, alternative medicine, natural and organic foods and a healthier lifestyle –  not only for me, but because I wanted the best for my beautiful baby boy.

Out of this came my desire to help others.  I went back to school to become a holistic nutritionist and began focusing my teaching, writing, editing and research on holistic nutrition and natural health – eventually becoming the Senior Editor of Natural Solutions magazine and Deepak Chopra’s newsletter, Perfect Health.

Our bodies have a tremendous capacity to heal if we open ourselves up to the possibility, have a positive mindset, and a willingness to take charge of our own health, our own bodies. Conventional medicine is symptom based and so often turns to prescription drugs or surgery as the band aid solution to a health issue. I’ve experienced the power of natural-holistic health, and I constantly witness amazing results, not just for me, but with my friends and family.

Is it simple? Yes.  In fact, here’s the powerful four-step formula to great health:

1) Eat the right foods – whole foods in as close to their natural state as possible.  Eliminate or reduce fast foods and processed foods from your diet.

2) Fit regular exercise into your life. You don’t have to do mega-aerobics or intense workouts, just 30 minutes several times a week is a great help to your health.

3) Keep a positive mindset. Very often what you feel emotionally becomes how you feel physically. Understanding the mind-body-spirit connection is a cornerstone of holistic health.

4) Surround yourself with loving support and community, along with trusted, reliable information about your health concerns.

Simple?  Yes.

Easy?  No.
